Nielsen-Massey Pure Almond Extract, 4 fl oz — Concentrated All-Natural Flavor, Non-GMO

Nielsen-Massey Pure Almond Extract is a concentrated, all-natural almond flavor made from bitter almond oil and cane alcohol for baking, confections, and savory finishing.

Made by the family-owned Nielsen-Massey company, this 4 fl oz bottle delivers a clean, true almond aroma and flavor without artificial additives. The extract combines bitter almond oil with cane alcohol and water to produce an intense, reliable almond profile that mixes smoothly into batters, frostings, sauces, and dressings. It is Non-GMO Project Verified, certified kosher and gluten-free, and crafted to the brand’s long-standing quality standards.

How strong is the flavor and how much should I use?

The extract is highly concentrated: a little goes a long way. Start with a small amount and increase to taste to avoid overpowering delicate recipes.

• Typical use: 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per batch of cookies or cupcakes.
• For icings and custards: 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon for a subtle note.
• In sauces or vinaigrettes: 1/8 teaspoon to add depth without sweetness.
• Adjust upward in larger or stronger-flavored preparations.

What ingredients are inside and are there allergen concerns?

Ingredients are straightforward: cane alcohol, water, and bitter almond oil. The product is labeled allergen-free and is gluten-free and kosher certified, but anyone with severe nut allergies should consult a physician before use.

• Ingredients listed: cane alcohol, water, bitter almond oil.
• Certified: Non-GMO Project Verified, kosher, gluten-free.
• All-natural formulation with no artificial colors or flavors.
• When in doubt about nut allergies, seek medical advice.

How should I store the extract for best flavor and longevity?

Store the bottle in a cool, dark place away from direct heat or sunlight to preserve aroma. Properly stored, pure extract maintains its quality for years, though potency can mellow gradually.

• Keep tightly capped between uses to limit alcohol evaporation.
• Room temperature in a pantry or cupboard is ideal.
• Avoid placing near ovens or windows with direct sun exposure.
• Shake gently before measuring if contents have settled.

Can I use this in both sweet and savory recipes?

Yes — the clean almond profile enhances pastries, confections, and also adds a surprising layer to savory dishes like marinades and dressings. Use sparingly in savory applications so the flavor complements rather than dominates.

• Sweet uses: cakes, cookies, frostings, ice creams, marzipan-style desserts.
• Savory uses: finishing vinaigrettes, glazed vegetables, sauces with subtle sweetness.
• Mixes well into dairy, egg-based custards, and syrup reductions.
• Combine carefully with other extracts or spices to build complexity.

It’s suitable for people seeking natural, certified pantry staples that perform consistently across both everyday recipes and special-occasion baking.
