Equal Exchange Organic Dark Hot Chocolate Mix — 12 oz tins (Pack of 2), Fair Trade & Creamy

Equal Exchange Organic Dark Hot Chocolate Mix is an organic, fair-trade hot cocoa powder made from Dominican Republic cacao, organic sugar, and milk powder for a rich, comforting cup.

This two-pack contains 12-ounce tins of dark hot chocolate formulated with organic ingredients sourced from small-scale cooperatives. The recipe blends alkalized cocoa for deep chocolate notes with organic cane sugar and powdered milk, plus natural stabilizers and vanilla, delivering a smooth, scoop-and-stir beverage. Many ingredients are Fair Trade certified, supporting producer co-ops and traceable supply chains.

What flavor profile should I expect from this dark hot chocolate?

The mix leans toward a deep, chocolate-forward taste with balanced sweetness and a mellow finish from the powdered milk. Processing the cacao with alkali (Dutch processing) softens acidity and intensifies cocoa aroma, producing the classic dark hot cocoa experience.

• Deep cocoa notes from alkalized organic cacao
• Moderate sweetness from organic cane sugar
• Creamy texture contributed by organic nonfat dry milk
• Subtle vanilla for rounded flavor

How do I prepare a cup for best results?

Mixing the powder into warmed liquid produces the smoothest cup; use milk for creaminess or water for a lighter sip. Whisk or froth after stirring to dissolve any clumps and create a velvety surface.

• Scoop 2–3 tablespoons per 8 oz of hot milk or water
• Warm liquid to just under boiling for peak flavor
• Whisk vigorously or use a milk frother to blend fully
• Top with whipped cream or a dash of cinnamon if desired

What ingredients and ethical certifications does this mix include?

The ingredient list emphasizes certified organic components: cocoa processed with alkali, cane sugar, and nonfat dry milk, plus natural gums, sea salt, and vanilla. A significant share of the product’s weight comes from Fair Trade cooperatives, reflecting the brand’s commitment to ethical sourcing.

• Organic cocoa, organic cane sugar, organic nonfat dry milk powder
• Organic guar and carob bean gums for consistency
• Sea salt and organic vanilla powder for flavor balance
• Approximately 73% of weight sourced from Fair Trade cooperatives

Who is this for: This hot chocolate is suited to anyone seeking a richer-than-average cocoa made from organic ingredients and Fair Trade-sourced cacao.
